Crestwood is a village located approximately 24 miles to the southwest of Chicago in Cook County, Illinois, within the United States.

Crestwood boasts a total area of 3.08 square miles, as per the 2021 census gazetteer files. Out of this, a vast 3.05 square miles (7.90 km2) (or 99.09%) constitutes land, while a mere 0.03 square miles (0.08 km2) (or 0.91%) is water.

In the village, there were 10,826 individuals, 4,862 households, and 2,281 families living there according to the 2020 census.

Crestwood’s administration previously offered a rebate program to its residents, returning a portion of their property and other municipal tax payments.This approach was lauded by those who advocate for limited government intervention,as it promoted low taxes and efficient public spending.

The governance of Crestwood is currently in the hands of the Crestwood United Party, which consists of individuals who are affiliated with both the Republican and Democratic Parties.

Crestwood is accessible via Pace routes 383 and 385, both of which culminate at Midway station, the final stop on the CTA Orange Line.

Crestwood is conveniently located near the Midlothian station, which provides access to Metra’s Rock Island District train line that runs to LaSalle Street.

The Delia M. Turner Elementary School, which caters to Pre-K to Kindergarten students and is part of the Posen-Robbins School District 143½, is located in Crestwood.

Prominent individuals include Joan Patricia Murphy, a politician from Illinois, and Chester Stranczek, a past mayor.

In April 2013, Frank Scaccia, a certified water operator, admitted to making a false statement, pleading guilty to one count. Theresa Neubauer, Crestwood’s police chief and former water supervisor, was also found guilty of making false statements to regulators. Meanwhile, former Mayor Chester Stranczek was deemed unfit to stand trial due to his struggles with dementia.
