Glendale Heights, located in DuPage County, Illinois, USA 33,176 according to the 2020 census. This residential village is situated as a western suburb of Chicago.

The town was initially called Glendale because of its location and Bloomingdale. to a disagreement with another town named Glendale in Southern Illinois, the city chose to change its name in March 1960. They decided to include the term Heights to highlight the varied elevations in the area, with a difference of approximately 100 feet due to its position along the Valparaiso Morraine. Consequently, the town became known as Glendale Heights.

Glendale Heights boasts a total area of 5.53 square miles, as per the 2021 census gazetteer files. Out of this, a vast 5.39 square miles (97.45%) is composed of land, while a meager 0.14 square miles (2.55%) is made up of water.

Glendale Heights is served by three K-8 school districts: 15, 16, and 41. These districts all funnel into Glenbard Township district 87 for high school education. While there are three distinct school districts, the community is served by a single library district, the Glenside Public Library District.

In Queen Bee District 16, there are two primary schools, Glen Hill and Pheasant Ridge, catering to students from kindergarten to third grade. The intermediate school, Americana, serves students in the fourth and fifth grades. The middle school, formerly known as a junior high, is named Glenside. Although the original Queen Bee school no longer functions as an elementary school, the building remains on Bloomingdale Road and is repurposed for other uses. High school students from District 16 attend either Glenbard North or Glenbard West.

Marquardt District 15 encompasses four elementary schools, namely G. Stanley Hall School, Winnebago School, Blackhawk School, and Charles G. Reskin School. The district’s middle school, Marquardt, caters to students in grades six through eight, with separate buildings for each grade level. Located in the eastern part of Glendale Heights, District 15 also serves parts of Addison, the southern section of Bloomingdale, unincorporated Lombard, and the northern part of Glen Ellyn Countryside. Interestingly, Winnebago School, despite having a Bloomingdale address, is situated close to the Glendale Heights border. Students in District 15 typically continue their education at Glenbard East High School.

District 41 in Glen Ellyn comprises four elementary schools named Abraham Lincoln, Benjamin Franklin, Churchill, Glen. Students residing in Glendale Heights within District 41’s boundaries go to Abraham Lincoln. Additionally, Hadley Junior High is a separate school for sixth, seventh, and eighth-grade students. The district serves areas of Carol Stream, Glendale Heights, Glen Ellyn, Lombard, and Wheaton. Students from Glendale Heights within District 41’s boundaries transition to Glenbard West High School.

Glendale Heights residents can access Wheaton and other destinations via Pace bus services on Routes 711 and 715.

Prominent individuals such as Billy Corgan, the guitarist and vocalist for the band Smashing Pumpkins Hammond, a political activist, hacktivist, and anarchist, both hail from Glendale Heights. Additionally, the musician Aarone Angeles, also known as Ronsfitted, resided in Glendale Heights during a period of time.
