According to the 2020 census, the population of Rolling Meadows, a city located in Cook County, Illinois, United States, was 24,200 individuals.

In 1955, Rolling Meadows became an incorporated city and began expanding its boundaries to accommodate future growth. The town experienced a surge in development during the 1950s and 1960s, attracting numerous businesses to the area. Crawford’s department store, the largest in the northwest suburbs, opened in 1957 but closed in 1994. An industrial park was established on North Hicks Road in 1958, and Western Electric opened a facility in the 1960s, employing 1,500 workers. The area saw a proliferation of apartment buildings, with multifamily dwellings making up 35 percent of the total structures in Rolling Meadows by 1970. However, a series of fires in the decade led the city to tighten its building codes, which had previously allowed for frame multifamily structures.

The Chicago Loop lies 24 miles (39 km) southeast of Rolling Meadows.

The majority of Rolling Meadows falls within the boundaries of Palatine Community Consolidated School District 15. Schools in Rolling Meadows that are part of District 15 include Central Road (grades K-6), Kimball Hill (grades K-6), Willow Bend (grades K-6), John G. Conyers Learning Academy (early childhood and special needs education), Carl Sandburg Jr. High (grades 7-8) which serves students from Thomas Jefferson (grades K-6) in North Hoffman Estates, Central Road, Kimball Hill, and Willow Bend. Plum Grove Jr. High (grades 7-8) accommodates students from Stuart R. Paddock (grades K-6), Pleasant Hill (grades K-6), Hunting Ridge (grades K-6) in Palatine, Frank C. Whiteley (grades K-6) in Hoffman Estates, Central Road, and Willow Bend.

A minor part of the area is covered by Arlington Heights School District 25, which consists of Westgate Elementary School and South Middle School, leading to attendance at RMHS for students. Another smaller area is within the jurisdiction of Schaumburg Consolidated School District 54, with students attending Adlai Stevenson Elementary School in Elk Grove Village, Margaret Mead Junior High School, and WFHS. Additionally, a small section falls under Community Consolidated School District 59; however, this section has no inhabitants.

Approximately 50% of Rolling Meadows is within the jurisdiction of Rolling Meadows High School, which is part of Township High School District 214. The remaining half falls under the oversight of William Fremd High School in Pal which belongs to Township High School District 211.

Some notable individuals who have ties to the area include Bryan Anderson, a veteran of the Iraqi War and author; Jay Bennett, guitarist with the band Wilco; Gary Cole, a film and television actor; Carol Marin, a television and print journalist; Tim McIlrath, lead singer of the punk-rock band Rise Against, who lived in Arlington Heights; Scott Tolzien, an NFL quarterback who played for the Indianapolis Colts and Green Bay Packers; and Jimmy Garoppolo, an NFL quarterback who played for the New England Patriots, San Francisco 49ers, and Las Vegas Raiders.
