Streamwood, located in Cook County, Illinois, is a village in the United States. According to the 2020 census, the population of Streamwood was recorded at 39,577. Positioned as a northwest suburb of Chicago, Streamwood is a constituent of the greater Chicago metropolitan area.

Streamwood is part of the Tri Village area, which also includes Bartlett and Hanover Park. It became an official village on February 9, 1957.

A significant retail area known as Sutton Park has emerged in the past few years at the junction of Illinois Route 59 and Illinois Route 19, housing the Sutton Park Shopping Center.

Streamwood can be found at the intersection of 42°1′14″N latitude and 88°10′24″W longitude.

Based on the 2010 census data, Streamwood spans 7.854 square miles in total, with 7.82 square miles (or 99.57%) being land and 0.034 square miles (or 0.43%) being water.

The village is mainly supported by one school district, Elgin Area School District U46, which is the second largest in Illinois. U-46 offers educational programs to almost 40,000 students across an area of about 90 square miles in Cook, DuPage, and Kane Counties. A small neighborhood located to the east of Barrington Road is served by School District 54 for Kindergarten through Junior High, and Township District 211 for High School. The village is also within the boundaries of the Elgin Community College District.

The area is home to several educational institutions, including District U-46, Township District 211, and District 54. Additionally, Elgin Community College District 509 (also referred to as ECC) serves the community. Northwest Academy, a private therapeutic day school for special education students, is also located in the village and serves students from school districts within a 50-mile (80 km) radius.

The village benefits from the Poplar Creek Library District and Streamwood Park District. Those living east of Barrington Road can access the Schaumburg Township District Library and Schaumburg Park District, while residents west of Rt. 59 are served by the Gail Borden Public Library District in Elgin.

Poplar Creek Public Library, Renner Academic Library at Elgin Community College, District, Schaumburg Park District, and Gail Borden Library are all examples of library facilities. Additionally, places of worship are included in the list.

Streamwood boasts a vibrant religious landscape, with a wide range of places of worship that cater to diverse faiths and denominations. This inclusive community is home to several churches, including Faith Missionary Baptist Church, Immanuel United Church of Christ, Grace Bible Church, Grace Lutheran Church, Mercy Community Church, New Hope Community, St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, The Church in Streamwood, Truelight Lutheran Church, and Christ Community Church. Additionally, Streamwood is home to Baitul Ilm, a mosque serving the local Muslim community, and Shree Swaminarayan Gadi Temple Midwest Chicago, a Hindu temple. The community also hosts Madhav Kendra (Temporarily Closed), a Hindu temple, and Awana, the headquarters of an international evangelical Christian nonprofit organization focused on child and youth discipleship.

Commuters can access the Metra rail system at the Bartlett station, which is situated in the nearby town of Bartlett. The Milwaukee District West Line runs through this station, offering trains that travel eastbound to Chicago Union Station and westbound to Big Timber Road station.

Streamwood and Schaumburg, along with other destinations, are connected by Bus Service on Route 554, which is provided by Pace.

The Streamwood Stride is an annual endurance event that takes place in Streamwood every second weekend of June. In 2010, the 12th edition of the Streamwood Stride featured various races including a 5k run/walk, a 10k run, kiddie races of 50m and 100m, the double derby in collaboration with the Bartlett Blossom Run, and a 1-mile (1.6 km) fun run.
