Addison is a small town situated in the Chicago Metropolitan Area within DuPage County, Illinois, United States.
The village was officially established in 1884.
Suburban development in the 1960s transformed the town as developers began constructing houses on former agricultural land.
Addison village is situated along Salt Creek, a stream that flows into the Des Plaines River.
According to the 2020 census, the village is home to 35,702 individuals, 12,799 households, and 9,165 families.

Addison is the location of Addison Trail High School and Indian Trail Junior High School, along with several elementary schools including Ardmore, Wesley Elementary, Lake Park Elementary, Fullerton Elementary, Army Trail Elementary, Lincoln Elementary, and Stone Elementary. St. Philip the Apostle is a private Catholic school and parish in Addison, catering to students from pre-kindergarten to 8th grade. Driscoll Catholic High School used to be in Addison but closed in 2009. DeVry University, Chamberlain College of Nursing, and an Early Learning Center for 3-5-year-old students in Pre-K are also situated in Addison.
