Located in Travis County, Texas, Bee Cave is a thriving city situated approximately 12 miles west of Austin.

The name Bee Cave originates from the presence of a large bee colony that early settlers discovered in the area. Recently, in April 2023, Bee Cave was recognized as an International Dark-Sky Community, joining a prestigious list of only seven cities in Texas and 39 worldwide to hold this distinction.

Bee Cave’s terrain is predominantly undulating, with altitudes varying between 875 and 1,025 ft above the ocean’s surface.

Bee Cave experiences a muggy, subtropical climate with extended hot summers and brief, mild winters.

The corporate headquarters of American Campus Communities is located in Buildings T and S within the Hill Country Galleria shopping complex in Bee Cave.

The Lake Travis Independent School District provides education for the community of Bee Cave. Bee Cave  Elementary School, located in Bee Cave, Lake Pointe Elementary School, located in an unincorporated area, and Lakeway Elementary School, located in Lakeway, serve the students of Bee Cave as well as some sections of Lakeway. Bee Cave Middle School and Lake Travis Middle School primarily serve Bee Cave, while Hudson Bend Middle School serves certain areas to the northwest. Lake Travis High School, situated in an unincorporated area, serves the entirety of Bee Cave.

Until 2019, Lake Travis Middle School catered to the entire Bee Cave community. However, with the establishment of Bee Cave Middle School, both schools now serve the area.
