From 1958 to 1969, the Meadowdale International Raceway, a 3.27-mile (5.26 km) automobile race track, was located in Carpentersville. The race track, which was started by Besinger, was situated west of Illinois Route 31. Today, the site has been transformed into a Township Park and County Forest Preserve.

Meadowdale Shopping Center, launched in 1957, experienced rapid growth, expanding to accommodate up to 53 stores by 1958. However, over the years, the number of tenants has decreased, with the current roster featuring Walmart, Tractor Supply Company, and a spacious post office.
Carpentersville and surrounding areas are connected to Crystal Lake, Elgin, and other destinations via multiple bus routes operated by Pace.
Prominent individuals residing in the area include Gia Gunn, a drag queen, Kenneth Hawkinson, the president of Kutztown University of Pennsylvania, Bradie Tennell, who emerged victorious in the 2015 and 2018 U.S. Figure Skating Championships ladies competition, and Dylan Rogers, an actor.
