Located about 16 miles northwest of downtown Austin, Cedar Park is a suburban city in Texas that is considered a part of the Austin metropolitan area.
At the time of the 2020 census conducted in the United States, the city had a population of 77,595 individuals. Additionally, there were 25,061 households and 18,589 families living in the city.
Every year in December, the majestic Heritage Oak Tree, estimated to be over 400 years old, is adorned with an impressive 30,000 lights. Standing tall at 57 feet, the tree’s expansive canopy stretches out 80 feet, making it a breathtaking sight. Located in the median on Quest Blvd in Cedar Park, the tree is a beloved landmark and a popular destination for holiday revelers.
Cedar Park is divided into two parts by US Route 183, running north to south. An alternative route, the 183A toll road, also passes through the city and began welcoming traffic in March 2007. Noteworthy east-west routes include RM-1431/Whitestone Boulevard and Cypress Creek/Brushy Creek Road.
The H-E-B Center at Cedar Park serves as the home arena for two professional sports teams: the Texas Stars of the American Hockey League and the Austin Spurs of the NBA G League.
In the summer of 2010, the city of Cedar Park welcomed a new public skate park, boasting an impressive 15,000 square feet of space. The state-of-the-art facility includes a spacious bowl, a smaller mini bowl, and a cutting-edge street course, designed to thrill skateboarding enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels.
In 2008, the population growth in the area led to a significant expansion of the Cypress Creek campus of Austin Community College, making it an integral part of the city.
The H-E-B Center at Cedar Park, previously known as Cedar Park Center, was finished in 2009 and serves as a versatile venue for various live entertainment events. The renowned George Strait had the honor of inaugurating the Center with his performance on September 25, 2009. The H-E-B Center is also the home arena for two sports teams: the Texas Stars, the AHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars, and the Austin Spurs, the G-league affiliate of the San Antonio Spurs. Conveniently located at the intersection of New Hope Drive and 183A Toll Road, the Center is easily accessible for visitors.
