Countryside, located in Cook County, Illinois, in the United States, had a population of 6,420 according to the 2020 census.

The area known as Countryside was first home to the Potawatomi Indians and later welcomed early American settlers at the start of the 1800s. Joseph Vial and his family were one of the initial non-native families to make their home in the Countryside region in 1833.

Countryside became an official city in 1960.

Countryside covers a land area of 2.88 square miles (7.46 km2) according to the 2021 census gazetteer files, with no water included in its total area.

Students in Countryside are part of the educational system under La Grange School District 105 and Pleasantdale School District 107. For elementary education, students can attend either Ideal Elementary School in Countryside or Pleasantdale Elementary School in Willow Springs. Middle school students have the option to attend William F. Gurrie Middle School in La Grange or Pleasantdale Middle School in Burr Ridge, IL. Upon completion of middle school, high school students typically transfer to Lyons Township High School District 204, which operates campuses in La Grange and Western Spring

The rural area is supported by the Pleasantview Fire Protection District, established in 1946. The district is governed by a board of trustees chosen by the communities it serves. There are currently three fire stations within the district’s jurisdiction.

Pace offers bus transportation on routes 330 and 392 that link Countryside with Summit, O’Hare International Airport, and various other locations.
