Florence, situated in Williamson County, Texas, USA, is about 13 miles north of Georgetown and 40 miles north of Austin in the northwestern part of the county.  It is included in the larger Austin metropolitan area.

The area now known as Florence was initially settled in the 1850s, with the name Brooksville being used for a short period of time. In 1857, the community’s name was officially changed to Florence, concurrently with the establishment of its first post office.

The city covers a land area of 0.8 square miles (2.1 km2) as reported by the United States Census Bureau.

The region experiences hot and humid summers, along with mostly mild to cool winters. Florence has a humid subtropical climate categorized as “Cfa” in the Köppen Climate Classification system used on climate maps.

According to the 2020 US census, the city had a population of 1,171 individuals, with 260 households and 176 families living there.

The Florence Independent School District oversees the education of students in the city of Florence, Texas. Among its offerings is Florence High School, which boasts a unique feature: a fully equipped meat processing laboratory and an on-site meat market that offers a wide range of products to the community.
