Lakewood is a village located in McHenry County, Illinois, in the United States. The village was officially established on July 10, 1933. While it is often known simply as Lakewood, the correct name for the town includes the phrase ‘The Village of’.

The Village is located near the City of Crystal Lake, of Lake in the Hills Village of Huntley, and City of Woodstock.

The Village spans nearly 4 square miles (10 km2) and includes approximately 650 acres (2.6 km2) of open space, providing about 3/4 acre per household. It features 6 lakes, with Crystal Lake crossing into both the Village and the City of Crystal Lake, Illinois. Additionally, the Village boasts two golf courses, various natural areas such as the Kishwaukee Fen Nature Preserve, public and private parks, beaches, walking and biking trails, as well as open spaces in newer residential areas. Recreational spots in Lakewood include West Beach, Crystal Lake, and several parks throughout the region.

According to the 2020 census, the number of individuals residing in the area was 4,283.

Lakewood receives educational services mainly from Crystal Lake Community Consolidated High School District 155. South Elementary School is designated for residents living to the east of Huntley Road, while West Elementary School serves those living to the west of Huntley Road. Richard F. Bernotas Middle School and Crystal Lake Central High School also cater to students in the area. The Turnberry Meadows neighborhood falls under the jurisdiction of Huntley’s Consolidated School District 158, with students attending Chesak Elementary School, Martin Elementary School, Marlowe Middle School, and Huntley High School. Additionally, the Crystal Lake Central golf teams utilize Turnberry Country Club for their home games.
