Lavon, located in Collin County, is known for being one of the rapidly expanding communities in the state of Texas.
Lavon is situated in the southeast part of Collin County at coordinates 33°01′36″N 96°26′18″W. The city’s center is located 1 mile (1.6 km) to the southeast of Lavon Dam on the East Fork of the Trinity River, creating Lavon Lake. As per the data from the United States Census Bureau, Lavon covers a total area of 2.4 square miles (6.1 km2), with only 0.01 square miles (0.02 km2), or 0.39%, being water.
Lavon is located on the route of Texas State Highway 78, which goes north to Farmersville for 11 miles and southwest to Garland for 16 miles. Texas State Highway 205 branches off from Highway 78 on the western side of Lavon and travels south to Rockwall for 6 miles.
According to the 2000 census, the town was home to 387 individuals, 136 households, and 116 families. By the 2020 census, the town’s population had significantly increased to 4,469.
The Community Independent School District provides educational services to Lavon.
