Mint Hill is a town located in the southeastern part of Mecklenburg and the northwestern part of Union counties in North Carolina. It is considered a significant suburban area that is close to Charlotte and borders Cabarrus County.
As per the data provided by the United States Census Bureau, the town covers a combined area of 21.3 square miles, with 21.2 square miles being land and 0.04 square miles (0.19%) being water.
According to the 2020 US census, the town had a population of 26,450 individuals living in 9,627 households and 7,386 families.
Mint Hill has three elementary schools within its city limits: Bain, Lebanon Road, and Mint Hill. Clear Creek Elementary, located just outside the city limits, also serves a portion of Mint Hill. Additionally, J. H. Gunn Elementary School is designated for another area of Mint Hill.
Mint Hill is served by Northeast Middle School and Mint Hill Middle School, located within the town, as well as Albermarle Road Middle School, which is located outside of Mint Hill. High school students in Mecklenburg County have the option to attend Independence High School or Rocky River High School in Mint Hill, or David W. Butler High School in Matthews.
The town also houses Charter schools, namely Queen’s Grant Community School and Queen’s Grant High School.
The Charlotte Mecklenburg Library has a branch that serves Mint Hill.
