Royse City is a municipality located in Rockwall County within the state of Texas, with parts of its area spilling over into Collin and Hunt counties.

Following its establishment, Royse City maintained its quiet, rural town atmosphere by virtue of its closeness to Garland (21 miles) and Dallas (33 miles).

Royse City is situated in the northeastern part of Rockwall County, with parts of the city stretching into Collin and Hunt Counties. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 15.1 square miles, consisting of 15.0 square miles of land and 0.1 square miles of water, which accounts for 0.75% of the total area.

In the city, the population, number of households, and number of families were higher in 2020 compared to the figures from the 2000 census.

Royse City acts as a residential community catering to residents who work in Dallas and Greenville. The city’s primary focus is on housing development. Its economy is mainly driven by service-oriented establishments such as businesses, dining options, retail stores, educational institutions, and healthcare facilities. A notable addition to the city’s business landscape was the opening of a Buc-ee’s travel center in June 2019.

In 2007, Royse City received the distinction of being named an official Texas Main Street City, launching the Royse City Main Street program. This initiative aims to revitalize the city’s downtown area by supporting local businesses and preserving historic buildings. Additionally, in 2015, a new overpass was completed at the intersection of Interstate 30 and Erby Campbell Blvd., improving transportation and accessibility in the area.

Royse City Independent School District provides education to the public schools in Royse City.

Highways
Interstate 30 serves as the main artery through Royse City, while Texas State Highway 66 provides an alternative route.

Prominent individuals include baseball players Taylor Hearn and Gus Ketchum, American Idol semi-finalist Olivia Mojica, and southern gospel vocalist Glen Payne, who was a member of the Cathedral Quartet.
