The district has recently built new facilities, including a high school and an elementary school. The City of Sanger views the school district as a partner and collaborates closely with it. Sanger ISD has launched a district-wide initiative to combine technology-based instruction with effective teaching methods. They have implemented a 1:1 student technology lending program for grades 8-12 and have increased technology availability across all grades in the district.

Lynn Stucky, a veterinarian and Republican member of the Texas House of Representatives, also calls Sanger home. Larry Tidwell, a college basketball coach, was born in Sanger, and Marijohn Wilkin, a songwriter known for her country music hits, was born in Kemp, Texas, but raised in Sanger.
