Sanger is a municipality located in Denton County, Texas, within the United States.

Sanger can be found at latitude 33°21′47″N and longitude 97°10′34″W. The city covers a total area of 10.9 square miles (28.3 km2), with only 0.04 square miles (0.1 km2) or 0.45% of it being water.

Sanger experiences a subtropical climate with sweltering summers and mild winters, categorized as Cfa under the Köppen climate classification.

According to the 2020 United States census, the city was home to 8,839 individuals, 2,842 households, and 2,055 families.

In the year 2022, the local area lacked a dedicated grocery store of its own. While one had existed in the past, it had since shut down. As a result, the Sanger Independent School District established a charitable grocery store specifically for its students.

Sanger’s public education system is governed by the Sanger Independent School District, a separate government entity. Dr. Sandra McCoy-Jackson heads the school district as superintendent. The district consists of eight schools: Sanger High School, Linda Tutt High School, Sanger Middle School, Sanger 6th Grade Campus, Clear Creek Intermediate School, Butterfield Elementary School, Chisholm Trail Elementary, and Tenderfoot Child Development Center. The district has recently built new facilities, including a high school and an elementary school. The City of Sanger views the school district as a partner and collaborates closely with it. Sanger ISD has launched a district-wide initiative to combine technology-based instruction with effective teaching methods. They have implemented a 1:1 student technology lending program for grades 8-12 and have increased technology availability across all grades in the district.

Around one-fifth of the town’s population held a bachelor’s degree in the year 2022.

Sanger, Texas, has been home to a diverse array of notable individuals. Dane Evans, a professional Canadian football quarterback for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, studied at Sanger High School before pursuing his athletic career. James F. Hollingsworth, a United States Army lieutenant general, was born in Sanger. Ty O’Neal, an actor, has made Sanger his home, as has Jay Ramsey, a singer, songwriter, musician, and performer who attended Sanger High School. Lynn Stucky, a veterinarian and Republican member of the Texas House of Representatives, also calls Sanger home. Larry Tidwell, a college basketball coach, was born in Sanger, and Marijohn Wilkin, a songwriter known for her country music hits, was born in Kemp, Texas, but raised in Sanger.
