Trophy Club is a wealthy neighborhood near the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area in Texas. It was developed in the 1970s as one of the first high-end planned communities in the state, centered around the exclusive Ben Hogan-designed golf course. Situated to the west of DFW Airport and to the south of the western shoreline of Grapevine Lake, Trophy Club spans across the county boundary between Denton and Tarrant counties along State Highway 114.
In 1847, a group of 20 families, including Charles and Matilda Medlin, left Missouri to establish a new community in the bustling town of Elizabethtown, Texas, marking the beginning of Trophy Club’s rich history.

Following previous plans to seek re-election, current mayor Alicia Fleury decided to withdraw from the race on the day all candidates had to file. On the same day, Mayor Pro Tem Greg Lamont also withdrew from his council race to enter the mayoral race, where he was the only candidate. This move upset many residents, leading them to support former town councilor Jeannette Tiffany, who ran as a write-in candidate against Lamont. Despite not being listed on the official ballot, Tiffany managed to secure a victory with 63% of the votes, making her the first write-in candidate to win an election in Texas in recent history.
