Winfield, a village that is part of Milton and Winfield Townships in DuPage County, Illinois, United States, has a population of 9,835 according to the 2020 census. The population was estimated to have increased to 10,046 in 2022.

Central DuPage Hospital, a prominent healthcare facility in the Chicago suburbs, is situated in Winfield. The town is also served by the Winfield station on the Union Pacific West Line, offering convenient commuter rail access to Chicago. Additionally, Winfield is recognized as one of the safest towns in Illinois, providing a secure environment for its residents and visitors.

In 1884, Winfield attempted to become an incorporated village under the name ‘Frederick Park’, but the request was rejected due to a lack of the required 300 residents. The village eventually gained incorporation in 1921 with a population of 310 inhabitants.

The village is traversed by Klein Creek and Winfield Creek, as well as the West Branch of the DuPage River.

The oldest train depot in Illinois is Hedges Station “Besch House”, which was constructed in 1849 and currently serves as a museum.

The Chicago-Winfield Tuberculosis Sanitarium was established in 1909. With the decrease in tuberculosis cases, the number of patients at the Sanitarium also reduced. In 1962, the sanitarium was bought by the Central DuPage Hospital Association.

Winfield is a village that is divided into three school districts: West Chicago Elementary School District 33, which serves the north side, Winfield Elementary School District 34, which serves the south side, and Community Unit School District 200, which serves the east side. As Winfield does not have a public high school, students from Districts 33 and 34 go to West Chicago Community High School, while students from CUSD 200 attend Wheaton North High School. The village has three public elementary/middle schools: Winfield Primary School (grades PK–2), Winfield Central School (grades 3–8), and Pleasant Hill Elementary School (grades K–5), as well as two private elementary/middle schools: St. John the Baptist Catholic School (grades PK–8) and Wheaton Christian Grammar School (grades K–8).

The Winfield station offers Metra commuter rail service on the Union Pacific West Line, with trains running east to Ogilvie Transportation Center in Chicago and west to Elburn station.
